Families may wish to explore the FDW levy concession, Home Caregiving Grant, EASE home improvements, Seniors’ Mobility and Enabling Fund and ComCare. These schemes serve different needs and are not automatically granted when a helper is hired.
FDW levy concession
For eligible households caring for a person who needs help with day-to-day activities, the concession can reduce the monthly levy from $300 to $60. Confirm current eligibility with the relevant authority.
Home Caregiving Grant
The HCG is intended to help with home and community caregiving costs for a person with permanent moderate disability who meets the applicable assessment and eligibility conditions.
EASE and mobility support
EASE can subsidise eligible home improvements such as grab bars, slip-resistant treatment and ramps. The Seniors’ Mobility and Enabling Fund may support eligible assistive devices and home healthcare items.
ComCare
ComCare supports eligible Singaporeans and families who need help meeting basic living expenses. It is broader financial and social assistance rather than a maid-placement subsidy. Visit MSF ComCare or call 1800-222-0000 to understand the appropriate support route.
Where to verify the schemes
The government’s MyLegacy financial assistance for home care guide brings together the levy concession, HCG, EASE, SMF and healthcare-financing information. Speak with the care recipient’s healthcare team or medical social worker for situation-specific guidance.
A domestic helper can support daily living and household routines, but she is not automatically a trained nurse or clinical caregiver. Medical and nursing needs should be assessed by qualified healthcare professionals.
